Uganda Sand Cranes finished second to walk away with Silver after a 6-5 win against Malawi in their last game in Just concluded Copa Dar es Salaam beach soccer tournament at Coco beach in Dar es Salam Tanzania.
Emmanuel Wasswa’s hat-trick, a goal each from Rowch Somoka and Godfrey Lwesibawa proved the difference in 11 goal thriller which enabled sand cranes to finish second with 7 points from 4 games behind tournament champions Tanzania who collected 9 points.
“We finished in the same position like last year, but statisticay this year we have picked positives,our defense has improved alot by conceeding few gaols and keeping a clean sheet, however there were some few negativities we still have we need to work on before Afcon” Sand cranes coach.
For the best goal keeper of the tournament who is also sand cranes captain,Meddie Kibirige, he said the tournament was a good avenue for experience and exposure.
“We have gained experience and exposure which is good for our players as we prepare for Afcon, and in a special way i thank FUFA for the support” Sand cranes captain
Burundi finished third with six points, Seychelles finished fourth and Malawi came last with 0 point.
