Umar Kyebatala scored a brace as Vipers beat Entebbe Select in a practice match on December 31 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Tito Okello, Denis Mwemezi, Dan Sserunkuma and Farouk Musisi were also on target as the Venoms picked a routine win in preparation for the forthcoming second round of the 2019/20 StarTimes UPL.

Kyebatala is a St Marys SS student and he has showed his ability at school level last year.
Umar Kyebatala scored the equaliser that set the momentum as St Mary’s battled from a goal down to beat Jinja SS 3-1 at Kakindu in the finals of the National Post Primary schools (Copa Coca-Cola).
He later scored a solo strike as the school beat Buddo SS to win the FEASSA games in Arusha, Tanzania in August, 2019. He was the top-scorer with five goals.
He is one of the youngsters that have been training with the club this season, alongside the likes of Ahmed Amayo and Jacob Okao.
Vipers resumed training recently after a short Christmas break.
In the practice match against Entebbe Select, Allan Kayiwa who has been attending to her such mother in hospital sat out and the players who were with Cranes team that won the CECAFA – Halid Lwaliwa, Paul Will, Fahad Bayo and Karim Watambala – were also not used.
Vipers, formed way back in 1969 as Bunamwaya, are top contenders to win their fourth league title this season; Edward Golola’s side lead the log with 36 points, four above second placed KCCA FC.
The Venoms will face Kyetume on January 10 at Kitende before a short trip to Lugogo against Proline and then host bitter rivals SC Villa in that order.
