Tony Mawejje: Cranes Star Named Red Women Foundation Ambassador

Uganda Cranes midfield maestro Tony Mawejje has been appointed as an ambassador for Red Women Foundation.

Red Women is a national foundation in Uganda that is dedicated to giving women and girls a chance to live a better life.

Mawejje comes on board to spearhead the foundation’s ‘Football Can Change the World’ program.

The foundation’s Executive directors Mildred Kiwanuka told the-SportsNation that they hope to organise football clinics at different community pitches.

Fotball can change the world program is all about developing grassroot football and undiscovered young talent from community and inspiring girls and boys to join football In away that there is increased performance and engagement of families and communities,” Kiwanuka said.

“Tonny Mawejje being a role model to many young children and being a footballer, it would be a great experience for children with talent, get to hear and get inspiration from their role model in creating a pathway for young talent. It’s in this context that Red women foundation appointed him as a goodwill ambassador for the football can change the world initiative.”

The Masaka-born midfield kingpin, plies his trade with Al-Arabi in Kuwait top flight and had various stints in Iceland, South Africa, Norway and Albania.

He is one of the best passers of the ball to have donned the iconic Uganda Cranes jersey.
