All is set for this year’s Singleton match play golf series championship slated for its fourth edition at the Entebbe golf club.
Headline sponsors UBL under the Singleton brand have increased their package to Sh700M, head of luxury portfolio Annet Nakiyaga revealed.
The qualification rounds will start on January 11 with about 120 golfers expected to take part in a bid to choose the best 34 pairs ahead of the first round.
The 30 pairs will be joined by the defending champions plus three lucky ones selected by the sponsors to make it 34 pairs.
Nakiyaga, who was speaking at the launch held at Achwa hall on Tuesday morning at Serena Hotel in Kampala, commended all other sponsors.
“This is unbreakable bond, we want to keep our circle small to enable our sponsors get the required mileage,” Nakiyaga stated. “Singleton will continue to bring fresh air and lifestyle to this tourney, it has opened doors for more people.
“We want to continue giving the golfers more experience and this is by far the biggest sporting golf competition in the region. Next year, we hope to go across the borders as neighbours Kenya Rwanda and Tanzania have already shown interest.”
Thanks to RwandAir, the champions will have a chance to travel to the Dubai Desert Classic championship next year.
Round one will tee-off in February before the grand finale on July 18, 2020.
For every month, there will be a Mitsubishi car to be won for the lucky golfer with a hole in one shot.
Singleton, Ekspresso, Victoria Motors, RwandaAir, Serena Hotels, DSTV, CBA Bank are some of the sponsors on board.
