(Oilers lead 3-1)
City Oilers beat UCU Canons 63-57 on Friday at Indoor Arena in Lugogo to close in on their record seventh National Basketball League title.
The Oilers are joint leaders with six championships with Falcons and be the outright record winners as the lead the best of seven final series 3-1.
UCU Canons, who are facing City Oilers for the first time in the final since 2015, won game one 67-59 in November but Nicholas Natuhereza’s charges have since looked a shadow of themselves since.
Oilers who came into the game on the back of a failed Basketball Africa League attempt, led 30-21 at halftime and managed to hold on against a side that shot 3-for-17 from the three-point range.
Jimmy Enabu (23) and James Okello (20) were the only Oilers’ players to score in double figures while Landry Ndikumana added 12 rebounds.
David Dikong shot 7-for-12 from the field to garner 16 points, Fadhil Chuma and Fayed Baale notched 11 and 10 points respectively for the University side.
The sides will renew their acquaintances on January 15, with Oilers just a win away from a seventh ring.
