Proline FC with one man down held on to their nerves to negotiate past Maroon FC with a 2-1 victory in their second round league opener at Luzira Prisions Ground.

Steven Mukwala’s second half strike was not enough to cancel Hamis Kizza’s brace which came in the first half of the game, despite a red card to the vistors in 70th minute.

Maroon looked a better side, had the highest ball possession and created the most chances but Proline were the luckier side on the day .

After missing couple of chances, finally in 15th minute, Hamis Kizza gave Proline the lead from a rebound inside the 16-yard box after defender Edward kabona’s false header clearance of Mukisa Yusuf’s free kick.

Quickly after, Maroons wanted to respond with an immediate equalizer but Steven Mukwala’s shot was collected by Hassan Matovu.

Matovu also punched away Bronson Nsubuga’s heavy shot into a corner while Mukwala’s Volley kick went few inches over the bar.

Four minutes after, in 19th minute, Hamis Kizza doubled the visitor’s lead, still from a rebound when Emmanuel Akol failed to cub Begisa James’ long range shot.

Ten minute into second stanza, Mukwala pulled one back with a simple tap-in with Proline’s defender Besiga gifting him with a pass to give hosts hope.

A goal gave Maroon more confidence and they continued to pile pressure on Proline defense with repeated attacks, making Proline concede fouls which paid with a second yellow and a red card to their captain Mujuzi Mustafa in 70th minute after a high tackle on Pius Obuya.

However, Proline sticked on their plan of counter attacks and they nearly came close to killing off the game but Akol was spot on when he saved his one on one with Kiwanuka Hakim before parring Begisa James shot into the corner.

Bamweyana introduced in Fred Amaku and Ronald Orombi for Solomon Walusumbi and Felix Okot, but Proline’s substitutions of Rogers Mato, Ajuna Richard and Joshua Okiror who came in for Joseph Mandela, Bright Anukani, and Hamis Kizza respectively kept on the pace to defend their lead.

Despite the win, Proline remain at the bottom of the table with 12 points and maroons dropped to 10th from 9th position.

Maroons are making a trip to Arua to play Onduparaka in their league encounter while Proline are hosting Vipers SC at Lugogo.
