*Bright Stars 2-1 KCCA FC
*Onduparaka FC 1-1 Maroons
*Proline 2-4 Vipers
Busoga United beat SC Villa 1-0 and walk away with maximum points on match-day 17 of the StarTimes UPL at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Moses Kiggundu’s own goal in the 76th minute was the difference as Villa’s wait for a win in the new decade continues.
The centre back failed to deal with Ivan Wani’s powerful cross, only to wrongly connect into his own net in what was a highly contested affair.
Busoga United move to 24 points, three behind Villa who remain on 27.
Busoga took a full control of the first opening 20 minutes, with couples of chances created which were denied by poor finish.
Villa gained momentum in next minutes and saw their first clear shot on target from Nicholas Kabonge parried away by Rogers Omedwa.
Nicholas Kabonge got another chance, but his free header went few inches wide shortly after Ambrose Kirya had also missed from close range.
Kirya missed a simple tap-in in the second half from Ronald Magwali’s through pass before substitute Bashir Mutanda’s effort was denied by the woodwork.
Earlier before the goal, Busoga’s David Bagoole had the space and all the time he needed but he shot over the bar.
Villa has lost three games in a row after previous defeats against KCCA and URA FC.
Villa will make a trip to Kitende to play Viper SC while Busoga who beat Express in the second round opener, will be welcoming Mbarara City.
