UPL: Mwemezi, Bayo Braces Spur Runaway Leaders Vipers

Vipers SC battled back to beat Proline 4-2 on match-day 17 of the StarTimes UPL at Lugogo.

A double each from Fahad Bayo and Denis Mwemezi gave the Venoms maximum points in a six-goal encounter.

Hamis Diego Kizza and left winger Hakim Kiwanuka scored one each but the efforts proved fruitless.

The Venoms extend their lead atop with 42 points, seven above second-placed KCCA FC who lost 2-1 to Bright Stars in Kavumba.

Proline who came into the game on the back of a win off Maroons at Luzira, remain on 12 points.

Bayo who scored the lone goal in the reverse fixture, has taken his tally to 11 league goals while Mwemezi also scored against Proline in the Super Eight Cup.

Edward Golola’s side have won three in a row since falling 1-0 away to KCCA and will now face bitter rivals SC Villa on January 17 at Kitende before a Uganda Cup game against neighbours Kajjansi United.

Proline visit Express at Kavumba Recreation Centre and have a daunting task in Uganda Cup where they will start their title defense against Katwe United.
