Steven Tikolo: Cricket Cranes Coach Leaves Role

Uganda Cricket Cranes head coach Steven Tikolo and Uganda Cricket Association have parted ways, it’s official.

Tikolo was appointed in 2016 and has held the position for three and half years.

Davis Turinawe, a former cricket cranes and Under 19 coach, takes up the role as an interim.

“Tikolo has chosen not to renew his contract with Uganda Cricket Association,” reads a letter from UCA, signed by CEO Martin Ondeko.

“His contract was due for renewal and negotiations have been on going with Steve to stay with us especially after the success in Oman in December 2019.

“Unfortunately, he has made a personal decision not to extend his stay with us despite our interest to continue with the relationship.”

Tikolo leaves the team at a time when the side will be hosting the Cricket World Cup Challenge League B second round.

Under his spell, the Cranes has won the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 tournament in Malaysia in 2018.
