*Busoga United 1-0 Mbarara City FC
Lawrence Tezikya scored the only goal of the game as Busoga United beat Mbarara City to extend their impressive start in the second round.
Busoga edged the visitors 1-0 in a league game played at the Mighty Arena, Jinja.
Tezikya, a two-time top scorer at the Copa Coca Cola Schools Championship with Jinja SS, made a beautiful tap-in to beat goalkeeper Tom Ikara after racing onto Abubaker Otao’s through ball in the 63rd minute.
Tezikya also had a chance to double the scoreline but his thunderous volley from a tight angle was saved by Ikara.
Paul Ssekulima was put through on goal but his shot was wide while David Bagoole also had a rocket with his left foot that went off the target.
The visitors failed to exert authority going forward but had a penalty appeal waved when Julius Junior Debbo appeared to have handed the ball in the area.
Busoga has now won three league games in a row after previous victories against Villa and Express.
Busoga have now collected 27 points while Mbarara remain on 22.
Busoga face Busia in the Uganda Cup before visiting Onduparaka in the league.
Mbarara who beat Busoga 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Luzira, play Kakira United in the Uganda Cup and host Vipers thereafter in the league.
