Busoga United Pays Tribute To Victims Of Collapsed Building In Jinja

During a league game against Mbarara City FC, Busoga United paid honours to those who died and affected after the building collapsed in Jinja last week.

The teams held a minute of silence before kickoff and wore black armbands in tribute of those affected by the crisis.

A storeyed building complex that was still under construction, just near the Mighty Arena, collapsed in Jinja on Wednesday during a league game between Kyetume FC and Tooro United.

Police has confirmed four bodies that have been retrieved from the rubbles.

The deceased have been identified as Joseph Isabirye, Denis Mahofa, Saidi Balaba and Bosco Akram.

Police are yet to reveal the exact number of people that are still missing.

About 30 workers are said to have been on site during the collapse but only 12 people have been retrieved alive and admitted to Jinja referral hospital.

During the game, Lawrence Tezikya scored the only goal of the game as Busoga pipped Mbarara City to extend their impressive start in the second round.

Busoga United, who changed name from Kirinya Jinja SS, have now collected 27 after match-day 18.

Busoga face Busia in the Uganda Cup before visiting Onduparaka in the league.
