Wakiso 1-0 Onduparaka: Ssekajugo Hands Mbabazi First Win

Wakiso Giants 1-0 Onduparaka fc

New wakiso Giants head coach Livingston Mbabazi tasted his first win in the three games he has been in charge.

Viane Ssekajugo’s first half strike was the lone goal needed by Mbabazi’s Wakiso needed to edge Onduparaka.

The Purple Sharks edged Onduparaka, Mbabazi’s former team, in a game played at Wakissha.

Captain Hassan Ssenyonjo would have put the hosts in the lead after 10 minutes of the first half but his free kick was kept away by Onduparaka goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa.

Emma Mutebi also missed when he thwarted off an Ayub Kisalita cross.

Wahab Gadafi came close to scoring the opener for the visitors, sending his free kick to the woodwork.

Ssekajugo slotted home in the 43rd minute after Karim Nduggwa’s shot ricocheted from the lower left post.


Just a minute in the second stanza, Ezra Bida was denied by Wakiso goalkeeper Derrick Emukule.

Julius Maliangumu headed off the mark from Ezra’s cross before Alex Komakech struck over the bar.

Purple sharks are now 8th on the table with 23 points out of the 18 games played while Onduparaka remain sixth with 27 points.

Wakiso Giants will visit BUL FC while Onduparaka welcome Busoga United on match-day 19.
