Uganda’s Juma Balinya will seek to replicate the good performance by former Ugandans that have played at Gor Mahia.
The Striker, last week, sealed a move to Kenya’s Gor Mahia days after terminating his two year contract with Yanga in December, 2019 due to in paid arears.
“I am aware of how Ugandan players have performed well at Gor Mahia and it is a challenge to me to do the same,” Balinya told Kenya’s Daily Nation.
“Apart from helping Gor win trophies, my other big target is that coming here will help me play for the national team often.”
Balinya on target for Yanga SC
Khalid Aucho, Shafic Batambuze, Godfrey Walusimbi and Hashim Ssempala are the Ugandans that have played at Gor.
In the 2018/19 season, Balinya was the topscorer of the Uganda Premier league with 19 goals, the sixth player from Police FC to achieve the milestone.
Peter Ssenyonjo (2008/9), Denis Obua (RIP, 1997), Martin Muwanga, Dan Walusimbi (2006) and Bruno Olobo are the other players.
Besides police FC and Yanga, Balinya has also featured for for SC Vipers FC and Lweza FC.
