Startimes Uganda premier league side Vipers received a cup upset after ejection from Uganda Cup by neighbors Kajjansi United at the round of 64.
Fahad Bayo had canceled out Michael Male’s opener to force penalties in a closely contested game at Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Jacob Okao’s decisive penalty shootout kick was kept out by Micheal Kagiri for Kajjansi United to advance to the round of 32.
Male gave Kajjansij a lead, slotting in after Paul Nyanzi’s shot had earlier hit the post.
Vipers responded with plenty of attacks going forward but failed to convert their chances.
There was a quick substitution from Vipers as forward Paul Mucureezi came in for Ibrahim Tembo as Coach Edward Golola tried to add experience on the pitch.
Umar Kayembe missed a clear chance for Kajjansi from a keeper to beat, after put through on goal by Nyanzi, only to shoot off wide.
Minutes after heis introduction, Umar Kyebatala had two goal attempts but couldn’t go past Kajjansi goalkeeper Micheal Kagiri.
Vipers forward Bayo scored for the visitors placing far from goalkeeper Kagiri’s reach after receiving a long ball from substitute Mucureezi.
Vipers could have won the game in normal time but Bayo had his shot equally calculated by Kagi while Kyebatala’s effort was blocked by Ronald Kizito.
