Guinness Night Football: Bebe Cool, Winners Off To Nigeria

Musician Bebe Cool and team Uganda have on Thursday morning left for the inaugural Guinness Night football pan Africa extravaganza programme in Nigeria.

The team, including Guinness Brand manager in Uganda Cathy Twesigye, held a farewell dinner at Kabira Country club on Wednesday night.

Ahmed Kassa, Andrew Elochu Asiimwe and Solomon Walter Muleyi were selected to represent team Uganda, and the trio will face off with other teams from Africa at the grand finale in Nigeria.

Muleyi was winner in Team 13 who where the overall winners of the five aside tournament. Kassa was in team from Super seven who where the overall winners of the Human Foosball while Asiimwe was the winner in UPU stars a team from Fort Portal.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Kassa who is also a basketball player for Kampala University (2019 NBL), told The-SportsNation. “I am excited to be part of the trip and I thank Guinness for the opportunity. Am a Man United fan and I can’t wait to run shoulders with Rio Ferdinand.”

Ferdinand, a former England and Man United defender is expected to fly to Lagos, Nigeria on Friday. He is the Guineas global ambassador.

Bebe Cool will be among the top celebrities from across Africa to entertain the dwellers in Lagos. SautiSol from Kenya, Salasi of Cameroon and Nigeria’s Kizz Daniel will headline the entertainment act.

“I will not only perform and light up the event, but I will also showcase my footballing skills by taking part in a five-a side soccer match and other soccer skills challenges,” Bebe Cool revealed.

“I will also work with Guinness over the next couple of months so that we can take the Guinness Night Football experience to even more Ugandans.”

The much anticipated event kicks off on Friday, January 31 and will last for three days.

The preliminaries in Uganda involved series that were held across the country where winners were selected from.

The participants and fans enjoyed a diverse range of activities played out in dark and enhanced by colourful neon UV and lightning technology, powered by Guinness.
