Busoga United beat rivals BUL FC 2-1 in a Jinja derby played at the Mighty Arena in the only StarTimes UPL game on Saturday.

The hosts came from a goal down after Musa Walangalira had given BUL a lead in the 17th minute.

David Bagoole scored from outside the box in the 17th minute before Lawrence Tezikya nodded in a Dan Ssewava delivery to put Busoga in front before halftime.

Sewava had an early chance that was easily collected by Abdul Kimera while one of BUL’s best opportunity in the second half saw Vitalis Tabu rattle his freekick into the wall from a promising position.

The result means that Busoga have beaten BUL FC both home and away for the first time in the league.

Busoga won the reverse fixture 3-0 at Njeru thanks to goals from Boban Zirintusa, Tezikya and Joel Madondo.

Busoga return to winning ways after two straight losses against Onduparaka FC and Busia Young (Uganda Cup).

The win sends Abbey Bogere Kikomeko’s Busoga level on 30 points with BUL, but Busoga has scored lesser goals in total as both sides have the same goal difference.

BUL FC remain without a win since November last year when they beat Mbarara City 3-0.
