Joas Maheta: UCU Captain Departs

UCU Guard and Captain Joas Maheta has ended his stay at the Mukono-based University.

Joas, as he is commonly known, graduated last year in October with a Bachelor in Business Computing.

He has confirmed to this website that he has not considered remaining in Uganda, but will join a team in his home country, Tanzania.

“Basketball is part of my life, so yeah I will still play ball,” he started after bidding farewell. “UCU was home, guys became my brothers and I’m happy that they let me be their leader.”

The passionate player who always left everything on court, notably helped the Canons to a league final where they lost to City Oilers after game seven last season.

Joas Graduated at UCU last year

He played 31 games, averaged five points, picked three rebounds and made two assists in the concluded season where he missed the last games of the finals series.

He leaves behind a good back court that will be inspired by a young and tricky guard Fayed Baale.
