Maroons: Bamweyana Faults Congested Fixture For Poor Results

Maroons FC head coach Douglas Bamweyana has attributed his side’s poor form to a congested league fixture.

Maroons who had a decent run in first round which even saw them winning three in a row during the early stage of first round, have only won one out of the opening five games in second round so far.

The Prison Warders have collect only five points from as many opening games of the second round.

“We are just fatigued its clear. Its still a surprise that even in the professional league we are playing barely 24 hours after every game which makes us to lack sharpness,” said Bamweyana.

“It becomes unfair in a way the fixture is drafted as if they want to just get rid of games, because you can’t play today and after 24 hours you play another, it affected us so much, and naturally you don’t expect people to work like machines because even machines do rest”

After their 2-1 away loss to Bright Stars on Wednesday, Maroons were called into action to face Tooro United on Friday.

Steven Mukwala put Maroons in early lead but James Kasibante scored at the stroke of halftime to rescue a point for the ailing visitors.

However, Bamweyana admits that his side has to improve on their clinical capacity in front of the opponent’s goal.

“We just have to continue working on our finishing because we create a lot of chances but we don’t take them and we look elapsed in ball control.”

Maroons are ninth on the 16-team log with 24 points from 20 games, just five points above safety.

Bamweyana’s charges will visit KCCA on Tuesday at Lugogo before another trip to face Wakiso Giants seven days later.
