Women Elite League: Asubo-Gafford Ease Past Lango Queens

Saturday, February 8
*Asubo Gafford Ladies 3-0 Lango Queens

Asubo Gafford ladies beat newly entrants Lango Queens FC 3-0 in a one sided Women Elite League encounter.

Janat Apolot had a brace in the first half before Sheebah Zalwango added another strike to seal a dominant display.

Gafford Ladies storm the summit with 16 points after seven games, however, Makerere’s She Mak will seek to reclaim top spot when they face Town View in Bugiri on Sunday.

Lango remains third with 12 points despite the loss.

“I want to thank God that players have done what we have been practising in training,” said a happy Gafford coach Mustapha Kayinda.

“Players like Mutiibwa and Zalwango followed instructions that I gave them and that has greatly contributed to the win today.”

Apolot raced on Zalwango’s pass before slotting past Lango’s goalkeeper Brenda Adongo to put Gafford in the lead in the 26th minute.

Apolot doubled the advantage two minutes after the first goal, courtesy of a good assist from captain Shakira Mutiibwa.

Zalwango scored the third 12 minutes past the second half when Adong failed to keep out a thunderous effort to put the game beyond the visitors’ reach.

It could have been worse for Lango but Sheebah and Mutiibwa later missed their scoring chances.

Gafford will visit Vision Ladies while Lango will be at home to She Mak next weekend.
