BUL Vs Vipers: Visitors Welcome Back Bashir Asiku

Vipers will welcome back central defender Bashir Asiku when they take a trip to face hosts BUL FC at Njeru on Sunday.

Asiku has been since he picked a knock last month, and has missed the club’s last six competitive games.

He featured for the club in the practice match against Lweza on Wednesday and is likely to start ahead of Jacob Okao to partner Geoffrey Wasswa at the heart of defense.

According to the club, Karim Watambala is a doubt after an injury he picked against Onduparaka, as well as Halid Lwaliwa, Siraje Ssentamu and left back Farouk Musisi.

Vipers will be targeting to restore their five-point gap atop; The Venoms are top of the log with 46 points, above second placed KCCA who have 44.

Fred Kajoba’s side will be hoping for an improved performance after their were pinned by Onduparaka despite squeezing a 1-0 laboured victory at Kitende.

Frank Zaga Tumwesigye and Allan Kayiwa were on target as Vipers beat BUL FC 2-1, Deogracious Ojok scored for BUL, in the reverse fixture.

BUL FC have a huge mountain to climb; They have gone six (five league) games without tasting a win and were beaten by Busoga in the derby despite taking a lead through veteran Musa Walangalira.

They have never beaten Vipers since 2016 but newly appointed coach Arthur Kyesimira will be hoping for a turnaround.

Kyesimira, formerly at URA as technical director, was given a two-year deal to take charge after the sacking of Peter Onen.

This is his second spell at the club where he served as a coach-player under Kefa Kisala. He will be assisted by David Kiwanuka and Kenneth Magada (goalkeeping coach).

He was also the coach (interim) as he guided BUL to beat relegation in the club’s maiden season in top flight.

Against Vipers, he will bank on forwards like James Otim, Frederick Kigozi, Musa Esenu, Joseph Ssemuju among others for goals.
