Tito Okello bagged a hat-trick as leaders Vipers recorded a 3-2 laboured victory against BUL FC at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.
The lanky forward put Vipers in a deserved lead in the 19th minute, scoring from the spot after he was tripped in the box by Denis Okot.
He looped past goalkeeper Sanon Munabi just before the half hour mark for the second.
Vipers were made to work when Fred Gwoto pulled one back a minute later and the hosts were level before halftime thanks to Robert Mukongotya who benefited from Vipers poor defending.
Okello finished his rout with a quarter to full time, to clinch what proved to be the winner.
Vipers extend their lead atop as they move to 49 points, reopening a five-point advantage from second placed KCCA.
Prior to kickoff, there was a moment of silence observed in honour of Vipers SC Jnr goalie Kevin Ssemakalu who passed away on Saturday.
BUL remain without a win in six league games and remain sixth with 30 points.
They will look to make amends against Proline on February 19 while Vipers face KCCA FC at Kitende a day earlier.
