Qatar – 154/4
Uganda – 126/7 (20 Ov)
Uganda lose by 28 runs

Uganda’s Cricket Cranes lost to Qatar by 28 runs in their second T20 game to trail the series 2-0.

There was an improved performance with the ball for Uganda who won the toss at West End Park International Cricket Stadium, Doha.

Uganda looked set to get the job done after restricting the hosts to 154/4 in a game played at night.

Qatar’s total were largely built off a strong start from Khan Kamran who hit 59 off 49 balls, a total which was spiced up by four boundaries and three sixes before he was run out by youngster Trevor Bukenya.

Henry Ssenyondo (0-18) and Franco Nsubuga (0-21) were outstanding while a wicket each from Charles Waiswa, Frank Akankwasa and Bukenya handed Uganda a good platform.

Uganda’s chase got off to an early collapse with Zephaniah Arinaitwe giving away his wicket cheaply in the third over.

Uganda tried to make amends, building from 10/1 to 107/4 thanks to Roger Mukasa (24), Arnold Otwani (20) and Kenneth Waiswa (39), before the side choked in the last four overs to succumb to the game they looked to be in slight control at one stage.

Uganda will face Qatar in the last international T20 series, approved by ICC, on Friday.

The Davis Turinawe coached side will hope to draw experience from the tour ahead of it’s forthcoming engagements in Africa T20 Cup in Kenya next month and ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in April/May at a venue yet to be confirmed.

Uganda had earlier lost to Qatar’s Presidential XI in a 50-over format game on Tuesday.

Uganda will also visit India, specifically to play at Saphale (Mumbai) and Sanjay Farm (Gujarat) before a return home on February 26.
