 Uganda Cup: KCCA FC Overcome Bukedea Town To Storm

KCCA FC beat Bukedea town council to reach the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Goals from defenders Peter Magambo and Filbert Obenchan in the second half earned KCCA FC a slot to the next stage of the competition.

Ten time champions KCCA FC beat had beaten CATDA at round of 64 and Saturday’s move has further brighten their chances of silverware this season.

Bukedea impressed, especially in the first half and played with much confidence throughout.

New signing from Tooro, Simon Okwi had three attempts at goal but was denied by custodian Charles Lukwago.

Opio also saw his strike hit the side net before Jackson Bwana was denied by Lukwago.

Minutes in the second stanza, Michael Siku had his freekick rattle the crossbar before Emmanuel Egasu rebound was off the target.

Bwana almost scored what would have been a consolation for the visitors in the last minutes of the game but his shot off a loseball from Lukwago went over the bar.

On the other hand, KCCA FC looked a dominant side mostly in the second stanza that saw the side score twice.

Forward Mike Mutyaba was unlucky when he was denied by goalie Emmanuel Opio, Erisa Ssekisambu’s shot was blocked by Hassan Kintu.

Twelve minutes off the second half, Peter Magambo rose high to head in a well delivered Mustafa Kizza corner to break the deadlock.

Three minutes later, Muzamiru found Obenchan who powered in a strike to double KCCA FC lead.

KCCA last won the competition in 2018 when they beat Vipers Sc in Bukedea.
