“It was a hard game for us in the start, we started poorly but we later came to the party,” said Manano. “We managed to remain on the ground and it’s something we are going to keep doing and also work hard.”

Kobs captain Brian Asaba also added that they struggled as ‘we played while catching our breath at the start’ in a game that had two water breaks.

Tawfik Bagalana crossed the line to put the first points on board after a well executed run for Hippos.

James Ijongat levelled matters later on before a hat-trick of tries from Ivan Kirabo and two conversions from Josiah Ssempeke handed Kobs a 24-12 lead at halftime.

Faragi Odugo, David Ssemwami, Edgar Sseruwagi, Asaba and Keith Sseruyange gronded the ball while Ssempeke and Ijongat (2) scored the other points from conversions in the second stanza.
