Corporate League: Formidable Changes Ahead Of 19th Edition

Much is set as the Corporate League returns for it’s 19th straight year.

The 2020 Corporate league was launched on Monday in Nakawa with various improvements as the organizing committee strive to make it better.

There is a lot of anticipation ahead of the season’s opener this Sunday, February 23 at the Kyambogo University sports ground.

“We are very excited ahead of kickoff on Sunday,” started new Chairman Boaz Nabimanya who was speaking to the press.

“There are various changes we are going to implement this year so that the league is rum smoothly.”

Notable among the improvements include the strict rules that will govern the participants so as mercenaries are kept out.

Nabimanya explained that team managers are required to present albums of their players before kick-off for verification of players and issuance of licenses.

The point awards system has been modified where a team’s corporate values like branding, transparency and responsiveness at the expense of just grinding out results on the pitch, will be put into consideration.

Sports and corporate values will each score 40% while 20% will be at the discretion of judges.

Last year when Hotel Africana clinched the overall title, 54 teams took part. About 20 new teams (companies) have joined this year’s edition.
