 Women Super League: Kawempe Muslims Ease Past Lady Doves

Kawempe Muslims thumped Lady Doves 4-1 in a FUFA Women Super League game played on Sunday.

Goals from Sharon Nadunga, Shamila Nalugya, Margret Kunihira in the first half and Namata Anita in the late second half were enough to secure three points for Kawempe.

Kenyan born Nafula Mary was on target for the visitors, the first goal Kawempe has conceded in the ongoing season.

This performance leaves Kawempe at the top of the league table with 19 points from seven games after wining six games, drawing one.

Lady Doves remain in the third position with 13 points.

Kawempe drew first blood when Nadunga found the back of the net off a good cross from Asia Nakibuka but Lady Doves equalised after Kawempe goalkeeper Adeke failed go tame an easy shot from Nafula to pass through her legs.

In 22 minutes, Nalugya restored the hosts’ lead in through a well taken freekick after afoul on nadunga by Akello Nancy.

Few minutes after the goal, the hosts had a brilliant chance to make it three but Margret Kunihira shot wide after receiving from Shakira Nyinaguhirwa.

Fazil Ikawput could have leveled matters but shot an inch wide.

Kawempe coach khalfah Ayub was booked in the 37th minute for attacking the referee over failing to award an ‘advantage’ to his player.

With three minutes to end first half, Knihira converted the penalty after a foul on Namata Anita by Akello.

The second half began with lady doves making a substitution with Nyandera Lydia who replaced Esther Nahimana but the efforts failed to bear fruits.

Kawempe’s Asia Nakibuka headed off the line to keep out Lady Doves’ chance before Kawempe made it four at the other end.

“The last match we played was a draw from but the problem we had was with our strikers. Today, we tried to add more strikers on the pitch and also our midfilders to help the strikers find goals,” said coach Ayub.

“We haven’t been getting the chances of set pieces, my players have started developing abrave heart and this will help us going forward.”

Kawempe Muslim play Mutesa royal next while Lady doves play she corporates next in march.
