KCCA FC: Title Race Not Over Yet – Mike Mutebi

KCCA FC gaffer Mike Hillary Mutebi says that the title race is still on and he is not willing to give up despite failing to close the gap when they met leaders Vipers SC.

KCCA FC and Vipers played a goalless draw in Tuesday’s meeting at Kitende, a result that left Mutebi’s side five points below Vipers (50).

Mutebi said that he was satisfied with the result but criticised the general performance of the local players.

“It was a good game although we wanted three points,” Mutebi told journalists. “This was a perfect result and it still gives us a good picture in our title race.”

The loss to KCCA would have left them eight points adrift of Vipers from as many remaining games.

“Its (title race) not over, there are still interesting fixtures ahead, there are still tough teams to fight against who need the points badly,” Mutebi added.

Mutebi believes that Vipers, who are yet to lose a game since Fred Kajoba’s arrival, will bottle the lead at one stage.

KCCA FC trail Vipers by five points in the title race

Vipers face URA FC in their next outing on Friday before KCCA host Express at Lugogo the following day.

The Venoms still have other tough away trips against Wakiso Giants, Tooro United and Express FC.

KCCA FC will have goalkeeper Charles Lukwago to thank after making tremendous saves but will also blame their attackers for failing to put away the chances in a game they had a slight edge.

Mutebi, painting a picture on the players display, added:

“My players failed to come out of the shell today, they played with a lot of fear. Most of these players are on a national team but have always shied away when it matters most.”
