 UPL: Ten-man Busoga Put Three Past URA

Busoga United, with a man down, beat on form URA FC in a StarTimes UPL game played at the Mighty Arena in Jinja.

Douglas Muganga was sent off by referee William Oloya after a second bookable offence in the 20th minute before the game was temporarily brought to a standstill as the hosts technical bench protested the decision.

Busoga managed to remain in character after a goalless first half before second half goals from David Bagoole, Nelson Mandela and Lawrence Tezikya sealed a 3-0 win.

URA FC didn’t only lose the game, but also lost goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian and Michael Birungi to injuries inside the first half.

Samuel Mwaka replaced Alionzi in goal, making his first appearance for the club.

Saidi Kyeyune hit the post from a freekick after Crownwell Rwothomio was fouled at the half hour mark. Kyeyune also had an header cleared off the line in the early stages of the game.

This is the first loss for URA FC in the new year and fourth overall. They remain fourth with 34 points after 22 games.

Busoga move fifth with 33 points after sealing their 10th win of the season.

Busoga face Maroons at Luzira on Friday while URA FC welcomes Vipers at Bombo.
