Rodgers Mato Stars As Proline Resurrect Survival Hopes

Rodgers Mato scored a brace as Proline FC edged lowly Bul FC to improve their slim chances of beating this season’s survival hopes.

Skipper Mustafa Mujuzi scored from the spot for the hosts who remain at the bottom with 18 points.

Former Proline FC forward Joseph Ssemujju scored for visitors in the opening 30 seconds of the game but his goal only proved to be a consolation.

Ssemujju gave the visitors an early lead after tapping in a long ball from striker Robert Mukongotya. He could have ended the day with two goals but he was denied by the crossbar.

Midfielder Richard Wandyaka was denied twice from Proline custodian Hassan Matovu. Robert Mukongotya shot blocked by defender James Begisa.

Proline FC levelled matters from the spot when Mujuzi sent Sanon Mulabi the wrong way in the 15th minute after a foul committed on Noordin Bunjo from Mukongotya in the box.

Begisa had a chance to send Proline in the lead a minute after the equalizer but his effort was collected by sanon Mulabi.

Joseph Mandela also missed by a whisker as Mato’s cross went begging.

Two minutes into the second stanza, Mato doubled Proline lead after he was supported by his pace to go past Bul defenders.

Goalscorer Mato had his header off a Begisa cross go over the bar as Proline kept pushing.

With 15 minutes off the hour mark, Mato made it three for Proline.

Bul FC after match-day 22 remain seventh on the StarTimesUPL table with with 30 points.

The jinja based team who haven’t tasted a win in their last nine league games will be searching for one when they visit SC Villa on matchday 23.

Proline FC remained bottom of the table with 18 points out of 22 games played. Proline FC will be taking a visit to Tooro United as they bid for survival on matchday 23.
