Uganda Cricket Cranes started their tour to India on a wrong note after a two-wicket loss to Thane Eagle Strikers in a game played at ICWC Academy Saphale.

Uganda came into the game on the back of an impressive Qatar tour where they managed two wins, one each in 50-over and T20.

After forced in to bat, Uganda’s openers failed to give the team a head start but captain Brian Masaba picked up the pace to propel the side to a respectable score.

Masaba showed stamina and aggressiveness, hitting five boundaries and three sixes to garner 75 from 89 balls faced before he was eliminated LBW by Ashwarya Surve.

Kenneth Waiswa (26) and Frank Akankwasa (38) contributed to Masaba’s total in a supporting role in a game Uganda’s batsmen were troubled by Asif Shaikh 3-24.

Mukasa caught Kausik Chikhlikar but half tons from Kaustub and Surve Ashwaraya, plus Shrikant Limbole’s 46 saw Thane Eagles chase the score with four overs to spare.

The Big Story – Cheptegei Breaks Record

Uganda who included Cyrus Kakuru, Rogers Olipa, Jonathan Kizza, Gerrard Mubiru among others on the India tour, will play another Over 40 game before moving to Sanjay.

Davis Turinawe’s side is using the tour to prepare the team for T20 Africa Cup in Kenya and World Cricket Challenge League etc.
