 Big League: Katwe Bank On New Signings For Better Second Round

The second round of the 2019/20 FUFA Big League kicks off this Thursday with two games in the Elgon group.

Elgon group bottom of the table Katwe United will play host to Mbale based Kataka FC at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Katwe were highly rated before the start of the first round but the side has done the opposite of people’s expectations as they have managed just five points.

They sacked Hassan Mubiru after a string of poor results before appointing Allan Kabonge who took the club through the remaining games in the first round.

In the transfer window, they added some experienced players and released a couple of players as well.

Former Express FC forward Tony Odur will boost the side’s attacking line while Habib Kavuma is expected to provide a cover at the back.

Joel Male, Richard Kigozi, Kenneth Mudira, Joshua Karisa were some of the released players.

Kataka FC

All has not been well for Kataka FC as well who sit 7th with just 10 points from 8 games.

In preparation for the second round, they beat Busia Young 2-0 in a game that opened the Mbale Municipal stadium and later edged regional league side Gadaffi FC 2-1.

Note – Both teams have Politicians at the helm. Katwe is for Hon. Allan Ssewanyana as Kataka is for Hon. Oporot Isiagi.
