Maroons Vs Busoga: Hosts Target Return To Winning Ways

Friday, February 21
*URA FC Vs Vipers SC – 4pm
*Maroons Vs Busoga United – 4:30pm

Maroons FC will be seeking to return back to winning ways when they host Busoga United on match-day 23 at Luzira Prisons Ground.

Both sides played a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at Jinja which was their fourth draw in their last five league meetings.

Maroons are winless in their last four consecutive games of Uganda Premier League in second round.

They have only managed to win one game at their home out of the three hosted in the second round, which is also their only win in second round from seven games played so far.

Their poor run of only five points in seven games, have seen them drop to 13th place with 24 points, just two points above relegation.

This means, a win for them wont only be a relief from four matches winless streak but will only be a breather from relegation perimeters, but will also look to save Douglas Bamweyana’s job.

Busoga are coming into this, at the back of an incredible performance of 3-0 win which ended URA FC’s
Unbeaten second round run.

They got the job done after having a player sent off.

Coach Abbey Kikomeko, is convince that the confidence retained after his side’s win against URA, will help them to beat the Prison warders.

“We play Maroons, which almost plays the same style like us, but we are confident after beating a well performing URA with 10 men and I know we are going to put up the same performance against maroons and break that jinx of not winning against them,” Abbey’s remarks ahead of their trip to Luzira

However, Busoga have not been a good visitors since second round, following a one win in three away games they have so far played in this round.

They will miss defender Douglas Muganga who was red carded in their last game, but coach Bogere has a plan for Maroon’s sharp shooter Mukwala, and this will be Abubaker Otwau who is coming back from injury and he will be a perfect replacement.

And this would not be a game they wish to loose because a win will see them enter the top four with 36 points from 23 games.
