Ssekulima’s Late Strike Sends Bamweyana’s Job On The Line

Paul Sekulima scored late as Busoga edged Maroons 1-0 on match-day 23 of the StarTimesUPL in a game played at Luzira Prisons grounds.

Sekulima’s goal extends Bamweyana’s winless streak to five consecutive league games which leaves his job in jeopardy.

Busoga breaks the jinx of not winning against Maroons to maintain its fifth place on the log with 36 points from 23 games.

It was an average performance displayed from both side, however, the visitors looked more hungrier and kept on pushing.

Earlier on, David Bagoole came close to breaking the deadlock but his long range shot was parried out by Emmanuel Akol into a corner kick.

The best chance of the game presented to Ivan Wani who had a goalkeeper to beat, but he decided to go for the beauty without knowing that there was a following Patrick Bayiga who blocked his shot.

In 86th minute, substitute Sekulima who replaced Wani, scored into an empty net from Isma Mugulusi’s square pass which had beaten goalkeeper Akol.

Tezikya had the chance to kill it off but his close range shot was denied by Akol.

Host’s only best chance landed to Fred Amaku but his effort was saved by Ali Kimera.

Maroons who have remained in 13th place with 24 points, will make a hard trip toKitende to play wounded table leaders Vipers who have lost to URA, while Busoga will host Wakiso Giants.
