Janjali Scores Late To Dent Proline’s Slim Survival Chances

Joseph Janjali won it late for Bright Stars as they beat Proline 1-0 on match-day 23 of the StarTimesUPL game played at Kavumba.

A late winner has seen Bright Stars keep extend its second round home record to four wins out four games as they move to 29 points.

It was in 82nd minute when Janjali who was unmarked broke the deadlock when he scored from Alfred Onek’s cross to beat Hassan Matovu.

In what was an average contest from both sides, Captain Sulaiman Ssebbunza had a chance to put the host in the lead at early stages but his penalty kick after a foul on Janjali by James Begisa was saved by Matovu.

Earlier on, Matovu had saved James Angu’s header when he parried it out into a corner after denying Muwadda Mawejje and Ronald Nkooge who had threatening efforts.

Visitor’s only clear chance came in 84th minute when Edwin Kiwanuka finger tipped Ibrahim Wammanh’s shot from the cross bar into a corner kick after humbling Rodgers Mato’s free header.

Proline remains at the bottom of the table with only 18 points from 23 games and will host fellow relegation occupants in their next fixture at Lugogo.

Bright Stars will be making a trip to Namboole to play SC Villa in their next fixture.
