Motorsport: Kyabazinga To Grace Returning Jinja Rally

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, will grace the returning NRC Jinja Rally slated for March 7-8.

The PRO of Busoga Kingdom Andrew Ntange said during the launch that the Kyabazinga “will be behind the wheels” on the day.

The Jinja Rally returns on the NRC calendar since it was banned after an accident in which fans were injured during an event in Iganga in 2018.

Kepher Walubi, driving a Mitsubishi Evo X, rattled into the fans to leave many injured.

This year’s event, sponsored by IUEA, will be targeting fan safety as it goes through competitive 154km in Jinja and Mayuge with 80% of route running through closed roads.

Alfred Mutanda, Clerk of the course, said:

“We have designed spectator areas and we will use the reverse order system as part of the safety system.”

He said that there will be a total of five sections with the longest at Mutiko before the final event which will be held inside Kakindu Stadium.

Maurice Otieno, the IUEA sales and marketing director, said that they are very previlledged to be part of the event.

He also commented that IUEA advises their students to do sports and that makes them one of the best Universities in the region beside having a conducive environment for education.
