SC Villa will be hoping to return to winning ways when they play host to on-form Bright Stars on Match-day 24 of the #StarTimesUPL at Namboole.

Villa lost their last league encounter, falling 2-1 to BUL FC at Njeru last Sunday.

Ronald Magwali scored first for Villa but were pegged back by Joseph Ssemujju’s double.

“We played against a team that was off form while we were on form but weren’t able to get the win so we are gutted. But that is what football is like. It’s very unpredictable,” Villa captain Asuman Alishe told the club after the loss.

“We are going back to the drawing board to see where we went wrong and we shall be sure to fix those mistakes in our next game. We are working hard every day and we shall not stop giving it our all. We march on.”

Villa beat Bright Stars 1-0, a goal from Derrick Ndahiro, in the reverse fixture last year.

Ndahiro, Saidi Keni and David Owori have been summoned by Jonathan Mckinstry as part of Uganda Cranes squad to prepare for CHAN.

Bright Stars on the other hand, have goalkeeper Edwin Kiwanuka Buule summoned for CHAN.

The Stars have been in terrific form and are unbeaten in their last five league games since losing 1-0 to URA FC on January 18.

They have beaten Maroons, Busoga, Police and Proline. They drew one all against Wakiso Giants.

Bright Stars are ninth with 29 points while Edward Kaziba’s Villa occupy third place with 40 points.
