Vipers winger Paul Mucureezi has broken silence after recently proposing to her long term girlfriend after a league game at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Mucureezi came off the bench to register his name on the scoresheet as Vipers beat Maroons 5-0 on Wednesday.
In celebration of the victory, the former Mbarara and KCCA FC player, capitalised on the opportunity and stage to ask the most important question.
Mucureezi asked his girlfriend Esther Swabale to come on the artificial turf before staging the biggest surprise amidst cheers from onlooking fans and players.
He dropped to one knee, issued out a ring, and asked her hand in marriage.
“He is very romantic,” onlookers murmured.
Mucureezi, in an exclusive interview with The-SportsNation, revealed:
“We have been together for three and a half years. I met her in my last year at campus (UCU) wen she was in her first year.”
When asked why he proposed on the pitch, he explained: “Because it’s (football) my profession. I had to do it on the pitch and am proud of it. I knew she would also like it.”
“She has been very supportive in my career and am looking up to my wedding this year.”
When asked whether the wedding will be held at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, he said that he will be communicating soon.
