Three Ugandans Qualify For Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games

Uganda Para team has returned safely from Morocco where they have been taking part in Africa Paralympics games qualifiers and three of them have booked tickets to Tokyo 2020 Paralympics games.

The games shall be held in August just after the Summer Olympics games at the same Olympics village in Tokyo Japan.

Uganda already got an assurance that Emong David who runs 1500 meters, Oroma Peace who runs 100 and 400 meters plus Elaro Monica (400 meters) and Javelin will be part of the games.

Despite only three of the 10 players that Uganda took to the qualifying games managed to qualify, Uganda Para President Haj Bumali Mpindi has picked positives.

“We took 10 players, nine participated and 3 qualified but also won 10 medals – 3 golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronze.

“Our players are certified, now it is easy for them to take part at any Para games, before we only had Emong now our team has widen.”

Uganda still have a chance to qualify other Para players to the games with two qualifying series still up to go in Namibia and Tunisia in April and May respectively.

Silver – Masisa Fred, Okira Richard, Monica Elaro

Bronze – Aroma Peace,Lagu Alex,Okira Rechard,Emong David.
