Henry Katongole: Police Defender Joins Uganda Cranes Squad For CHAN

Police FC central defender Henry Katongole has joined Uganda Cranes provisional squad for CHAN as a back up.

The lanky defender joins as a back up for KCCA FC defender John Revita who missed the training which kicked off on Monday at Cambridge International School, Butabika, due to his knee injury.

However, Revita has not been dropped as the doctors examine his injury in due process.

“Today we welcomed Henry Katongole into the team in central defense under the training squad,” said Cranes coach Jonathan Mckinstry after day two training session on Tuesday.

“Henry is one those center backs we have been watching in the league and he was in our discussion when we were selecting the initial training squad and when we realized that there was an issue with John, we thought Henry was next in line with center back partnership.”

“Though just like some of players on the team, he got a lot to learn in terms of our playing model since its his first day working with this group and we are confident that Henry will compete for place in CHAN.”

He beats fans favourite Mbarara City FC’s Hillary Mukundane to the spot.

However, Mckinstry expressed his disappointment with the information provided by the clubs about players, which he termed as unclear.

“Despite our communication prior to the camp to all the clubs, the information we got on certain players wasn’t clear as we would have liked it. We are still assessing some players like John Revita who has a problem with his knee and for precaution measures we brought in Henry”

Its now confirmed that, Charles Lukwago, John Revita and Halid Lwaliwa are the three summoned players on squad with injuries and their possibilities recording more injuries in the squad due to ongoing UPL and Uganda Cup which likely to affect the training.
