Action between St Lawrence and YMCA in University league
St Lawrence beat hosts YMCA on Wednesday in an entertaining University Football League game played in Buwambo.
The visitors managed to walk away with maximum points thanks to Isaaya Sabiiti’s lone goal in 76th minute of the game.
This, is the first loss for YMCA while the visitors register their second win from as many games.

The joyful head coach of St Lawrence Davis Nono while speaking after the game, said:
“I have never seen such a match, they gave us hard time, they ran, they pass and physical as well.
“Though the playing surface affected us, the game has been good for both teams played well. The good thing is that we have gained three points and now we are going to turn our focus to our next match against MUBs at Kavule.”
St Lawrence University has managed to retain their group D top spot as they move to six points from two games – They have scored five and conceded once.
The game has left YMCA in second place in group D with three points, scored two and conceded as many. They have played one game more than MUBs and Bishop Stuart.
YMCA sports tutor Julius Lutwama commented:
“Iy has been a good game despite the fact that we lost eight players who graduated, our team is young, and most of them have been playing in just Institute sports houses.
“The fact is that we lost because St Lawrence were better than us but now we have to start preparing for our next game against Bishop Stuart in Mbarara on 22nd March.”
The League will continue on Thursday 5th March as Bugema University host Gulu university in Bugema.
