SC Villa beat sorry Tooro United in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at St Paul Seminary in Fort Portal.
Faisal Muwawu scored the lone goal, a good header after Tooro goalkeeper Michael Nantamu had spilled a David Owori cross in the 39th minute.
Muwawu picked an injury in the process and was later replaced by Benson Muhindo at restart.
The victory sends Villa to 46 points, four adrift of second-placed KCCA FC on the log.
This is the 15th loss for Tooro United who remain rooted on the bottom with 22 points with just five games remaining.
It was a below par performance from both sides but Villa turned their half chance into a goal to take take maximum points.
The hosts looked a better side in the second half but failed to find the back of the net.
Yafeesi Mubiru almost got a late equaliser when he received from John Byamukama but goalkeeper Saidi Keni was equal to the effort in the 84th minute.
Keni almost gifted Tooro when he misplaced a hand pass as he tried to give his attackers a fast break, but Issa Mubiru’s cross went over the bar.
This is the second straight loss for Tooro who had earlier lost to Proline FC.
The result means that Villa has completed a league double over Tooro: Edward Kaziba’s won the first leg encounter 4-1 in the first round game played at Bombo.
What Next for both sides?
After a league break, Tooro United visit Mbarara City on May 6 at Kakyeka while SC Villa host KCCA FC at Namboole on May 5.
