Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was honoured by the Association of National Olympic Committee of Africa (ANOCA).
The award, called ANOCA Order of Merit, was presented by ANOCA President Mustafa Berraf at State House Entebbe on Monday.
The 55th Executive meeting of the ANOCA board members was held in Kampala for the first time.
Uganda is optimistic for an improved performance ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In Rio Olympics in 2016, the Uganda Olympic Committee fielded a team of 21 athletes, 14 men and 7 women, to compete only in athletics, boxing, and swimming at the games.
This was the Uganda’s largest delegation sent to the Olympics since 1988.
However, Uganda failed to win a medal in Rio De Janeiro.
