National Insurance Company, NIC, managed to defend the netball national rally clubs category held in Kiboga.
This year’s national rally attracted clubs like KBK, Weyonje Community club, UPDF, Police, UGX, NIC and visitor team She Pearl (the U-21 national team).
NIC beat all the teams and drew 23-23 with she Pearls to finish on top with 11 points.
NIC maintained their dominance which has seen them win this title since 1995 only missed in 2007 when they lost to URA in Luweero.
Coached by Kiwanuka Vincent, Martha Soigi, Racheal Nanyonga, Stella Oyella and Brenda Namubiru put up big performance for NIC.
Weyonje community club finished second after registering four wins, drewn 25-25 against she Pearls and lost to NIC.
In other categories at this year’s national rally championship, Exodus shocked Kitende C 27-9, and B 16-13 in quarter and Semi finals respectively before beating Buddo SS 18-14 in final to win their second national rally trophy.
They won the first in 2016 at Blessed Sacramento Kimanya
The tournament had 16 secondary schools and the main highlight came in semifinals when Buddo and Exodus stunned Kitende A 18-19 and B 13-16 respectively.
WOB won all their games to defend men’s category after beating Kiboga Men’s club while Ndejje university defended the university category beating up Gulu university and Wairaka polytechnic.
In Primary category, Rays of grace emerged champions, defeating Arch Bishop Nakirebe and Katale primary school.
The event was graced by Kiboga district chairman Isreal Yiga who was impressed by the games and promised to add more efforts in schools sports.
“I appreciate the organisers, it has been a good experience to host these games, I am really impressed with the games as they bring interest in our kids to develop much love for sport, though we had only Kateera I am sure starting with next year we will have many schools from Kiboga.”
“We didn’t have a sports officer for so long but now we have appointed and he is undergoing training.”
