Coronavirus: Swimming Federation Postpones Activities

Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) has postponed its sporting activities as they move to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pendemic.

The development affects events in the months of March and April 2020.

The outbreak of coronavirus, which is yet to be registered in the country, has claimed at least 7,019 people elsewhere.

“In order to preserve public health and ensure the safety of athletes, parents, well-wishers, supporters and members of the General public, the executive decided to postpone all sporting activities on the USF calendar for the month of March and April 2020, until further notice,” reads a statement from the USF.

This comes during an Olympic year with the big event that is set to be hosted in Tokyo also hanging in balance because of the pandemic.

The National Inter-secondary schools gala on March 28 at Greenhill Academy is consequently postponed while upcoming clinics in April may remain unmoved on the calendar.
