It will be a blend of music and boxing when Uganda’s Kenny Lukyamuzi face off with Malawian’s Shikadi Makawa on June 20th at Freedom City.
The night, dubbed ‘Boxing Thriller in Afrigo’, is organised by Amigo Promotions.
Afrigo Band, John Blaq, Spice Diana and Comedian MC Mariachi will headline the entertainment act.
“Boxing used to be the top sport in the country, we intend to push it back where it used to be. Music has already climbed places,” said Amigo’s Richardson Kigozi.
Kigozi revealed that they will only be three fights on the night as they move to keep time.
The entrance fee has been priced at Sh10,000 ordinary.
Lukyamuzi has 10 bouts, three losses, one draw and six wins while his Malawian opponent has 14 wins, a draw and 12 losses in his 27 bouts.
Uganda Professional Boxing Commission, represented by Simon Katongole (Vice president), Abbey Mugayi (Technical) and Zebra Mando (boxers representative) confirmed that the fight has been sanctioned and it will be a non-title fight.
The organisers are hoping that the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic will not affect the event, then.
