I Will Continue Serving Football Even When I Join Parliament – Magogo

FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo will “continue serving football” even when he joins Ugandan Parliament.

Magogo made the remarks during NTV’s sports show Omumuli on Good Friday.

Earlier this year, Magogo confirmed that he will be joining politics; standing for the parliamentary seat of Budiope East in the forthcoming 2021 elections.

Since then, many theories have been put on table claiming that Magogo will be relinquishing his FUFA presidential role for a seat in Parliament.

“We have built a game in such a way that it can go on even without a top administrator,” Magogo said during a Skype interview.

“We have made enough redundancy that can help football move forward without a president or a CEO.

“Football can be served in many ways. In case I make it to the parliament, I think I can still help the game to improve the football law, poor stadium etc.

“I believe football will gain more when am in Parliament. And I will continue serving it even when I join politics.”

Magogo: Cranes Players Have No Business In FUFA Reforms

His remarks may be translated by onlookers that Magogo is determined to remain as a FUFA President even when gets a political seat.

However, according to the FUFA statutes, the football governing body is neutral in matters of party politics and religion.

Magogo is expected to use an NRM card going into the Budiope East Elections.

The statutes however prohibits political discrimination which is “punishable by suspension or expulsion and/or disciplinary
measures.”

When asked why he will be joining politics, Magogo commented:

“People of Budiope are like my parents; they brought me up, educated me and presenting their views in Parliament is the only better way to pay them back.”
