FUFA Gives Out 12.5 Tonnes Of Rice, Over 2000 Players To Benefit

Federation of Uganda Football Association has donated over 12.5 tonnes of rice to the National Task force during the Covid19 lockdown.

This comes as a relief and response to the call by President Museveni after a ban to public gatherings with nationals asked to stay home.

FUFA will take back 10 tonnes which they will distribute to the players and have vowed to observe Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) when conducting the
exercise.

The food has cost FUFA UGX 50,000,000 (Fifty Million Uganda Shillings) according to our sources.

FUFA President Moses Magogo said that the donation will also cater for over 2000 football players and officials in the UPL, FUFA Big League, FUFA Women Super League and FUFA Women Elite League “who are no longer earning without football being played.”

Magogo said: “We have also asked for permission to be able to distribute food to our players who are scattered over the country those playing in first and second division for men and women.”

Magogo added that they would have loved to also distribute food to other leagues but that is where “our abilities are at the moment”.

The state Minister for sports in Uganda Hamson Obua commended FUFA for the support.

“On behalf of the sports sector, I salute FUFA through this humble donation of rice to natural response of Covid19,” said Hon Obua. “The sports sector though has greatly been affected together with tourism but through FUFA we are able to make this humble contribution.

“I call upon all sport loving members of the society who can make contribution as fufa has done.”

Minister in charge of general duties in the office of the prime minister Mary karuru Okurut received the package.
