Football Kenya Federation has submitted Gor Mahia’s name for next season’s CAF Champions League.

The side, commonly known as K’Ogalo, were declared Kenya Premier League champions by FKF last week.

FKF ended the league due to Coronavirus pandemic, with about seven rounds to go. Gor were seven points above Kakamega Homeboys.

“We have explained to them [Caf] that because of Covid-19, we have officially ended our league and in accordance with rule 6 of FKF rules and regulations we have declared Gor Mahia as the champions and they will be our representatives in the Caf competition,” Barry Otieno, CEO FKF, said as quoted by Goal.

The decision to end the league and declare Gor champions was meant with heavy criticism from some clubs and Kenya Premier League.

The 19-time league champions will be hoping for a better adventure on the continent after they were eliminated by USM Alger during the first round in this season’s competition.

Their last biggest achievement in the CAF Champions League was a quarter finals place in 1992.
