Rita Imanishimwe: A Day In Life Of A Basketball Star

Rita Imanishimwe is one of the house-hold names in Ugandan basketball. Her five league titles, and still counting, speaks volumes.

Imani, as she prefers to be called, plays for JKL Lady Dolphins – A team she joined from UCU after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

During this lockdown due to the novel Coronavirus, Imanishimwe’s day follows familiar routines week in, week out.

“The lockdown has become frustrating after the added 14 days,” Imanishimwe says, and adds that she is tired of staying home. “And that I can’t do the things I had planned to achieve this year otherwise all is well, God is in control.”

She stays in Kyaliwajja with her little sister.

The JKL and Gazelles shooting guard executes most of her tasks indoors as she tries to stay safe and follow government directives.
