 Official: FUBA Postpones Zone V Tournaments In Kampala

Basketball governing body in Uganda, FUBA, has postponed upcoming Zone Five activities in Kampala due to Covid19 pandemic.

This was confirmed in a document released by the Federation, dated May 11 2020 and signed by head of Marketing, media and publicity Arnold Katabi.

The postponed events are Zone V preliminaries for U18 and Zone V preliminaries for Women club championship.

The U18 tourney was initially scheduled to be played in Kampala in June 1-6th while the Women club championship was supposed tip off in October.

FUBA says that the tournaments have been “postponed until advised by FIBA Africa.”

The statement reads, in part:

“This position has been reached by the FIBA Africa Zone V board in line with the FIBA circular No’s 24 and 25 dated 23rd March and 31 March respectively.”

Like all other previous documents since lockdown, The federation has encouraged “you to stay safe and continue following the Ministry of Health guidelines..”

Sports in Uganda has been banned since mid march this year as the government tried to stop the spread of Covid19.
